As there is no financial support from any governing body and the overall cost to the team is more than £10,000, this is an overwhelming and much-needed sponsorship deal from Fladen. The squad comprises Gary Galbraith, Mike Smith, Rolf Marshalek, Cliff Newbold, Paul Hart, Colin Searles and Neil Bryant (manager).
Mike De Beer, managing director of Fladen, said: “We have a great deal of admiration for the commitment shown by the team, and consider it a duty to invest back into the sport that, after all, provides us with our livelihood. Fladen wishes the England team every success in achieving gold again in Italy.”
Neil Bryant explained: “The team can now afford additional training for the event which will, once again, hopefully allow us to finish in a medal position and become world champions as we did in 2006. We will practise in England prior to going to Italy early, where we will have an additional four days’ at the venue before the Championship. This vital financial assistance gives us the extra resources required to pay for the additional accommodation, boats and travel expenses that the team incur, and would normally fund themselves.”
The team members now have the opportunity to test everything they require, and Fladen’s hooks, lines, braids and, more importantly, rods and reels provide the quality required when fishing at this level. Clothing is also an important aspect of the sponsorship, and Fladen’s flotation suits are synonymous with quality and safety.
The England team also supports Fladen Fishing by way of product testing and development, and using the relevant tackle when and where required. They’ll also assist in the design of rigs that may be introduced into the Fladen International Rigs Range.
This all helps in the development of fishing tackle at world level, and allows Fladen Fishing to bring new products to the market for the benefit of all anglers
