Weighing in at 14lb 4oz, this specimen is an impressive capture as the first undulate ray for an angler – which is probably why its captor, Jamie Watts has got a smile on his face.
The 38-year-old Southampton rod was fishing aboard Weymouth charter boat Flamer IV when he struck into the fish. Falling for an Ammo squid and mackerel hook bait presented on a pennel rig, Jamie brought it to the boat using 20lb class tackle.
After the fight, being weighed and having its photo taken the ray was returned alive.
