The Great White – Fact Or Fiction? - 20/07/2007

Sightings of great white sharks are reported each year off our coast. Most of these turn out to be basking sharks, mako sharks, dolphins or some other kind of shark. But, each year there are three or four sightings that cannot be explained, and these are put down to possibly being great whites.
Roger Smith is planning a scientific expedition to try and prove the existence of the great white off our shores. He’ll be looking for absolute proof in terms of photographs, bite boards etc. Any shark caught will be recorded, tagged and released unharmed. In order to do this, he will be looking for donations and sponsorship. A website has not yet been set up but will follow in due course.
